Scientist (NGS Data Analysis)

Direct Hire Fulltime Role

Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000 per year

Location: Berkeley, CA - Onsite Role

Summary:

We seek a Scientist with considerable assay development experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with tissue in various formats and will have experience with -omics approaches. We need someone comfortable with a large degree of autonomy and who works well with a team. As with all research, we expect strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

As an early employee, you will help shape the company from the technology to the culture. We are looking for someone comfortable stepping into many roles, which provides the opportunity to learn many new skills and refine existing ones. The preferred candidate will know at least one relevant aspect of functional genomics, including single-cell sequencing, DNA sequencing, library preparation, or spatial analysis. Regardless of the individual's technical background, this person must be a focused, driven, forward-thinker with experience developing novel technologies into commercial-ready products.

Key Responsibilities:

We all wear many hats, so this isn't a complete list, but to give you an idea of what will be expected of you:

• Work with our scientific leadership to define key technical milestones; develop and execute work plans. 
• Lead assay development efforts; design, conduct, and interpret experiments
• Establish and lead collaborative efforts with partners.
• Play a key role in data analysis, including contributing to novel data generation and visualization methods
• Prepare and present technical project information to internal and external audiences

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in molecular biology or biochemistry with relevant experience post-grad or in the life science industry 
• NGS data analysis is REQUIRED
• Strong scientific understanding of molecular biology and genomics and ability to design, interpret and troubleshoot molecular biology or genomic assays
• Self-motivated, independent, highly resourceful, and collaborative, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary and dynamic environment
• 2+ years of assay development in biochemistry is preferred
• 2+ years of experience working with tissue and NGS is preferred
• Experience with antibody staining, imaging, and flow cytometry is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
