Job Description

gpac (The #1 Recruiting Firm in the Nation) is partnering with a highly regarded education law firm seeking a dedicated Special Education Associate Attorney to join their Pennsylvania office. This is a full-time, strictly in-office role ideal for an experienced school law attorney passionate about advocating for public school districts across the state.


About the Role

This position focuses on representing school districts in complex legal matters related to Special Education, student rights, school policy, and administrative compliance. You’ll be part of a close-knit and collaborative legal team providing strategic guidance to school boards, superintendents, and administrators across Pennsylvania.


Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and related state/federal education laws
  • Represent school districts in IEP meetings, due process hearings, and other administrative proceedings
  • Counsel clients on student discipline, employment law, and school governance
  • Draft and review legal memoranda, board policies, and district communications
  • Provide legal advice regarding Sunshine Act and Right to Know Law
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to resolve disputes and navigate evolving education policy

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of direct Special Education law experience required
  • Must have handled due process complaints, IEP disputes, and school discipline matters
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Pennsylvania Bar
  • Strong understanding of school law, Sunshine Act, and Right to Know Law preferred
  • Excellent legal writing, client management, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to work full-time in-office and thrive in a team-oriented environment

Compensation & Bonus Structure

  • Salary range: $95,000 – $110,000+
  • Billable target: 1,800 hours
  • Bonus potential for surpassing billables, origination incentives, marketing & discretionary bonuses
