Job Description

One of the region's quickest-growing MEP Engineering firms is currently hiring for an experienced Plumbing Designer who will develop design concepts to be incorporated into the final project. This firm works on Healthcare, University, Laboratories, Government, Mixed-Use/Multi-Family and Commercial facilities. 

Plumbing Designer Responsibilities

  • The Plumbing Project Engineer, in role of project leader, may begin to handle some project management tasks but will primarily work on technical aspects
  • Provides schematic design information to Lead Project Engineer, such as mechanical room sizes and requirements.
  •  Incorporates design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with project team to produce construction documents.
  • Mentoring of junior staff, including Entry Level/Design Engineers and interns
  • Provides complex design work, major services, mechanical rooms, etc. Produces sketches and systems schematics for complicated design tasks, such as layout of mechanical or electrical rooms
  •  Construction Administration: Attends construction meetings and produces observation reports. Participates in final shop drawing reviews. Provides construction inspection and RFIs. Provides punch listing and/or review
  •  Participates in trade QA/QC. Reviews drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards.

Plumbing Designer Qualifications

  • 1+ years overall experience with Plumbing Design and Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • FE, LEED and/or PE preferred., or actively working towards
  • Must be proficient in the use of computer for design and must understand CAD/BIM operations
