JOB DESCRIPTION

A growing and well-established Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) fabricator and erector is seeking a Remote Detailing Manager to lead and support its detailing department. This position is ideal for an experienced PEMB detailer who enjoys mentoring others, reviewing work, improving processes, and driving departmental performance.

The primary focus of this role is managing and overseeing a team of detailers, not daily production drafting. The Detailing Manager will be responsible for reviewing drawings, maintaining quality standards, balancing workloads, and ensuring projects move efficiently from detailing through fabrication and erection.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and oversee a team of up to 20 detailers and drafting professionals

  • Review and approve PEMB shop drawings for accuracy, completeness, and constructability

  • Monitor detailing schedules and ensure project deadlines are met

  • Assign workloads and balance resources across multiple projects

  • Mentor, train, and develop detailing staff

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, fabrication teams, and field personnel

  • Review RFIs, revisions, and change orders to ensure proper implementation

  • Establish and maintain detailing standards, procedures, and quality control processes

  • Identify and resolve drawing conflicts and constructability issues

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the detailing department

  • Serve as a technical resource for detailing-related questions and challenges

  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and performance management of detailing personnel as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience detailing Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB) required

  • Proficiency with MBS (Metal Building Software) required

  • Strong understanding of PEMB systems, fabrication processes, and erection practices

  • Experience reviewing and checking detailed drawings for quality and accuracy

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Strong communication and leadership abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

  • Previous management, supervisory, or team leadership experience preferred but not required

  • Experience working with fabrication shops, engineers, project managers, and field operations is highly desirable

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Base Salary: $90,000 – $120,000 DOE
