Position Title: Structural Steel Detailer

Employment Type: Full-Time


Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Detailer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands-on detailing experience working directly for a steel fabricator or erector, producing complete and accurate shop and erection drawings for both structural steel and miscellaneous metals (stairs, railings, embeds, etc.).

Proficiency with AutoCAD and either SDS/2 or Tekla Structures is essential, along with a deep understanding of construction drawings, steel fabrication, and erection methods.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed shop and erection drawings for structural and miscellaneous steel components

  • Interpret architectural and structural plans to generate fabrication-ready documents

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and shop personnel to ensure accuracy and efficiency

  • Generate material lists and assist with change orders or field revisions

  • Identify and resolve detailing conflicts before fabrication or erection

  • Ensure all work meets AISC standards and project-specific requirements

  • Work independently and manage deadlines across multiple projects


Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience detailing structural and misc steel for a steel fabricator or erector

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and either SDS/2 or Tekla Structures

  • Strong working knowledge of steel connections, fabrication standards, and field practices

  • Experience producing drawings for stairs, handrails, ladders, embeds, and platforms

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents with a high degree of accuracy

  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Familiarity with AISC standards and steel industry best practices
