Project Manager – Commercial Construction

About the Opportunity
A well-established commercial construction company based in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional who has progressed from an Assistant Project Manager role and is ready to take full ownership of projects from preconstruction through completion.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of Project Management experience, a strong background managing ground-up construction projects, and experience overseeing projects ranging from $5M–$40M. Commercial construction experience is preferred, but candidates with diverse ground-up project experience will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final completion
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and overall project plans
- Coordinate owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project documents
- Manage project costs, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and pay applications
- Lead project meetings and maintain strong communication with project stakeholders
- Monitor project progress, quality, safety, and financial performance
- Identify potential issues and develop solutions to keep projects on schedule and within budget
- Provide leadership and guidance to Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other project staff
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and design teams
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the company's quality standards
Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction Project Management experience
- Previous experience as an Assistant Project Manager/APM required
- Experience managing projects ranging from $5M–$40M
- Commercial construction experience strongly preferred
- Diverse ground-up construction experience will be considered
- Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, scheduling, and project financials
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively resolve project challenges
- Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
