Construction Controller
Family-Owned General Contractor | Second-Generation Leadership
A well-established, family-owned General Contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Controller to join its leadership team. The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations, providing accurate reporting, supporting project teams, and helping guide the company's continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations
- Prepare monthly internal financial statements and management reports
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow management
- Monitor project financial performance and collaborate with operations teams
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain and improve accounting controls, procedures, and reporting systems
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, and financial partners
- Support executive leadership with financial analysis and decision-making
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of accounting leadership experience within construction
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, project accounting, and construction financials
- Experience with Sage 300 required
- Procore experience strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work closely with ownership and operations teams in a collaborative environment
