Construction Controller

Family-Owned General Contractor | Second-Generation Leadership

A well-established, family-owned General Contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Controller to join its leadership team. With second-generation ownership, a strong reputation in the market, and a stable pipeline of work, this company offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while enjoying a collaborative, family-oriented culture.

The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations, providing accurate reporting, supporting project teams, and helping guide the company's continued growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations
  • Prepare monthly internal financial statements and management reports
  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow management
  • Monitor project financial performance and collaborate with operations teams
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintain and improve accounting controls, procedures, and reporting systems
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, and financial partners
  • Support executive leadership with financial analysis and decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting leadership experience within construction
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, project accounting, and construction financials
  • Experience with Sage 300 required
  • Procore experience strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work closely with ownership and operations teams in a collaborative environment
