Job Title: Senior Estimator / Director of Preconstruction – Federal / DoD Projects

Job Overview:We are seeking a Senior Estimator / Director of Preconstruction with 10–15 years of experience working for a General Contractor on institutional and federal (DoD) construction projects. This individual will play a critical leadership role in preconstruction, budgeting, and client development for projects ranging from $20M to $70M. Candidates must have a stable work history and a proven track record of success delivering accurate estimates on complex government projects.
Must-Have Requirements (Please Do Not Apply If You Do Not Meet These):
10–15 years of estimating and/or preconstruction experience
Experience working for a General Contractor (GC)
Proven experience on federal and/or DoD construction projects
Experience with project values ranging from $20M–$70M
Stable work history (no job hopping)
Key Responsibilities:
Lead preconstruction efforts from concept through GMP development
Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, and final estimates
Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents
Manage subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, and scope analysis
Develop budgets, cost models, and value engineering strategies
Collaborate with operations, project management, and executive teams
Interface with clients, owners, and government agencies
Identify risks, cost drivers, and opportunities for cost savings
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
Strong knowledge of federal procurement processes (FAR / DFARS)
Experience with design-build and negotiated work
Proficiency in estimating software (Sage, WinEst, OST, or similar)
