Mechanical Drafter – Industrial Machinery

Employment Type: Full-Time Work Environment: On-site / Manufacturing & Engineering Office

Position Overview

A growing industrial machinery manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Drafter to support engineering and production teams through the creation and maintenance of detailed technical drawings. This role focuses on translating engineering concepts and designs into accurate, manufacturable drawings used for fabrication, assembly, and installation of industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and revise detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using CAD software

  • Produce assembly drawings, part drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs)

  • Update and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and revisions

  • Support mechanical engineers with layout drawings and design changes

  • Ensure drawings comply with company standards, industry codes, and manufacturing requirements

  • Incorporate redlines and field changes into final drawings

  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and purchasing teams to resolve design or documentation issues

  • Assist with document control and version management

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field

  • Experience drafting mechanical components or assemblies for industrial machinery

  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar)

  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawing standards, GD&T, and tolerancing

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

  • Familiarity with manufacturing and fabrication processes (machining, welding, assembly)

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial equipment, automation, or heavy machinery environments

  • Exposure to sheet metal, structural weldments, and machined components

  • Knowledge of ERP systems and BOM management

  • Understanding of basic mechanical principles
