We are seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to support the construction of large-scale higher education and student housing projects. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Lead Superintendent to coordinate daily field operations, manage subcontractors, ensure safety compliance, maintain project schedules, and uphold quality standards throughout all phases of construction.
This position is ideal for a construction professional with experience in ground-up multifamily, student housing, mixed-use, or institutional construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Superintendent in managing daily field operations and project execution.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Monitor project schedules and ensure work progresses according to milestones.
- Conduct daily site walks and identify potential schedule, safety, or quality concerns.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with building codes and project specifications.
- Track and assist with RFIs, submittals, punch lists, and closeout activities.
- Participate in subcontractor coordination meetings and weekly planning sessions.
- Maintain daily reports, site documentation, and progress updates.
- Assist with project logistics, material deliveries, and site access coordination.
- Support quality control efforts and ensure workmanship meets project standards.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or related construction leadership role.
- Experience with ground-up student housing, multifamily, mixed-use, higher education, commercial, or institutional construction projects.
- Knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, and subcontractor management.
- Understanding of Type I, III, and V construction methods preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction management software.
