Job Description: Project Manager/Estimator (Civil Construction)
Company Overview
We are a dynamic civil construction firm specializing in commercial sitework, excavation, and underground utilities, with expertise in delivering high-quality infrastructure projects. We are seeking a skilled Project Manager/Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our projects.
Position Summary
The Project Manager/Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and managing civil construction projects, focusing on commercial sitework, excavation, and underground utilities. This role involves collaborating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The position reports to the Senior Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial sitework projects, including excavation, underground utilities, and related civil construction activities.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing using automated estimating software.
- Manage all phases of assigned projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project requirements are met.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to identify scope and ensure compliance.
- Monitor project progress, manage change orders, and resolve issues to maintain timelines and budgets.
- Conduct site visits to oversee work, ensure quality, and enforce safety protocols.
- Prepare and present project reports, cost forecasts, and updates to management and clients.
- Support business development by assisting with bid preparation and client presentations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating and managing commercial sitework projects, including excavation and underground utilities.
- Experience in marine construction (e.g., pier/dock work, piling, seawalls, shoreline stabilization) is a plus.
- Proficiency with automated estimating software, with preference for Bid2Win experience.
- Familiarity with Foundations Construction Software is a plus but not required.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven leadership and teamwork abilities to manage project teams and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: $80,000–$120,000 annually, depending on experience.
