Tool & Die / Stamping Tooling Engineer Location: Illinois – Advanced Tooling & Technology Center Shift: First shift Pay: Starting at $39/hr, DOE

About the Role: We are seeking a talented Tool & Die / Stamping Tooling Engineer to join our state-of-the-art tooling team. This position is responsible for the design, fabrication, and troubleshooting of stamping dies, fixtures, and gauges to ensure components are manufactured accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys solving complex tooling challenges.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and develop stamping tooling, including fixtures and gauges, based on part specifications and 3D CAD data.

  • Analyze drawings and tolerances to determine manufacturability and tooling requirements.

  • Apply expertise in machining processes, metal properties, tool design, and assembly techniques.

  • Estimate material usage and specify necessary equipment to produce parts to spec.

  • Generate clear, detailed CAD drawings, prints, and instructions for shop teams.

  • Implement engineering changes and maintain accurate documentation throughout the tooling lifecycle.

  • Work closely with team members to ensure tooling performance and production quality.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Tool & Die certification required.

  • Hands-on stamping die experience, including build, design, and troubleshooting.

  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including partner programs like Logopress; some 2D CAD experience (AutoCAD, Diemaker, or similar) a plus.

  • Experience with tight-tolerance stamping (.004”–.032”) and occasional thicker material (.125”).

  • Proven ability to take ownership of tooling processes from concept through production.

  • Must submit CAD designs or drawings for skill assessment.
