Position Summary:  Commercial Millwork Estimator

We are looking for a detail-oriented Commercial Millwork Project Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for millwork projects. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of millwork materials, manufacturing processes, and project requirements to help secure profitable contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project scopes to develop comprehensive estimates for commercial millwork projects.

  • Calculate material quantities, labor costs, equipment needs, subcontractor pricing, and overhead.

  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to validate assumptions and ensure feasibility of proposed solutions.

  • Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.

  • Prepare detailed bid proposals and submit timely estimates that align with project requirements and budget goals.

  • Analyze historical data and past project costs to improve estimating accuracy.

  • Maintain and update cost databases and estimation tools.

  • Assist in value engineering and alternative material selection to optimize cost and performance.

  • Participate in client and contractor meetings as necessary to clarify scope and pricing.

  • Support the sales and project management teams with technical and cost information during the bid and negotiation phases.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial millwork estimating or related fields (architectural woodwork, cabinetry, casework).

  • Strong understanding of millwork fabrication, materials (wood, laminates, hardware), and installation processes.

  • Proficiency reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Skilled with Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g., ProEst, PlanSwift, or similar).

  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Knowledge of AWI standards is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred but not required.
