Job Overview:

A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to focus primarily on transactional work in business, real estate, estate planning, and probate. The role offers a balance of transactional work with the possibility of some litigation arising from these practice areas.

Duties:

  • Provide legal services in transactional areas, including business law, real estate, estate planning, and probate.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents for business and real estate transactions.
  • Counsel clients on estate planning and probate matters, including the preparation of wills, trusts, and related documents.
  • Represent clients in legal proceedings related to estate and business disputes, if needed.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and independently manage client cases, ensuring excellent client communication and service.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare briefs, and stay updated on relevant changes in Nebraska law.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in business, real estate, estate planning, or probate law is preferred.
  • Active law license in the state of Nebraska or the ability to obtain admission within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • An active member in good standing of the Nebraska State Bar or eligibility for admission within 90 days.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw.
  • Expertise in drafting legal documents and providing legal advice in the areas of business, real estate, and estate planning.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and handle complex legal matters with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral advocacy skills for any potential litigation work that may arise from transactional cases.
