About the Role:

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Shipping Department Foreman to lead our shipping operations and oversee the daily logistics of steel and reinforcing bar handling. This hands-on leadership role requires a candidate with a strong background in shipping, supervision, and heavy equipment operation, as well as a commitment to safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of the shipping department

  • Supervise shipping personnel, including hiring, training, development, discipline, and termination

  • Ensure safe and efficient loading and unloading of steel and reinforcing bar

  • Coordinate vehicle and fleet maintenance

  • Maintain compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations

  • Oversee material handling and accurate tracking of shipments

  • Support yard and department upkeep and organization

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Valid CDL and clean driving record

  • Previous experience in shipping or logistics

  • Experience loading steel or building materials

  • Proficient with heavy equipment, forklift, and tractor/trailer operation

  • Rigging and crane experience strongly preferred

  • Supervisory experience required

  • OSHA and DOT compliance training

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently

  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions and remain on your feet for long periods
