Personal Injury - Insurance Defense Attorney - Entry Level

Location: Missoula, MT Job Type: Full-time Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience, plus performance-based bonus

Position Overview: A confidential law firm is seeking an entry-level 2025 law school graduate with an interest in litigation. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in civil litigation, focusing on personal injury and insurance defense. The ideal candidate will have 0-3 years of experience and be comfortable managing cases from beginning to end. You will be exposed to a variety of cases and will participate in depositions, court appearances, and trial preparation. The firm offers a hybrid work model after 90 days, contingent on performance, and a billable target of 1900 hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of complex civil litigation matters

  • Conduct legal research, and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents

  • Represent clients in hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings

  • Handle all aspects of cases from inception to jury defense

  • Direct client contact and opportunities to expand work

  • Collaborate with experienced attorneys across multiple locations to manage cases efficiently

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in one or more of the following states: MO, MT, CO, IL, KS

  • 0-3 years of litigation or trial experience, ideally in personal injury and/or insurance defense

  • Strong verbal communication and negotiation skills

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Some travel required for case management
