Job Description

Job Title: CNC Machinist & Programmer – Lathes & Swiss Machines

Summary: We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist & Programmer with 8–10 years of proven expertise in precision machining. This role will set up, operate, and program CNC lathes and Swiss-type turning machines to produce tight-tolerance components for critical applications in the medical device and precision manufacturing industries. Candidates must be capable of interpreting complex blueprints, creating and editing CNC programs, and ensuring parts meet exacting quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and program CNC lathes and Swiss machines for production runs and prototype work.

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and M-code for efficient cycle times and optimal tool life.

  • Select and install tooling, fixtures, and work-holding devices per job requirements.

  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and optical comparators.

  • Adjust offsets, feeds, and speeds to maintain tight tolerances.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and process sheets.

  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain quality and productivity.

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and ensure a clean, organized work area.

  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.

  • Train and mentor junior machinists as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 8–10 years of CNC machining experience, with at least 5 years on Swiss-type turning centers and CNC lathes.

  • Strong proficiency in CNC programming (Fanuc, Mitsubishi, or equivalent controls).

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T.

  • Experience with precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.

  • Familiarity with medical-grade materials such as stainless steel, titanium, and plastics.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced manufacturing training or certification preferred.

  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to ISO and quality system requirements.
