Job Title: Structural Steel Shop Foreman
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Shop Foreman to lead daily operations within our fabrication facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural steel fabrication and at least 3+ years of supervisory experience in a steel shop environment. This individual will be responsible for overseeing production, ensuring quality control, maintaining safety standards, and coordinating workflow among shop personnel.
Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day operations of the fabrication shop, including welders, fitters, and helpers
Plan and schedule work to meet production goals and deadlines
Ensure all fabricated components meet drawings, specifications, and quality standards
Enforce and promote shop safety procedures and compliance with OSHA regulations
Monitor inventory levels of materials, tools, and consumables
Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and field teams
Train, mentor, and evaluate shop employees to improve performance and efficiency
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a structural steel fabrication shop
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, welding, and layout techniques
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Commitment to quality, safety, and productivity
Preferred:
Experience with overhead cranes, material handling, and shop scheduling software
AWS or similar welding certifications
