Working Construction Foreman – Hands-On Leadership Opportunity | Indianapolis, IN

 

A well-established general contractor in the Indianapolis area is seeking an experienced Working Construction Foreman to join their growing team. This company specializes in design-build and self-perform construction projects across multiple sectors, offering a stable pipeline of work and a collaborative environment.

About the Role: This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys leading from the field. The ideal candidate will be on the tools approximately 80–90% of the time, while also managing day-to-day site operations, overseeing self-perform crews, maintaining safety and quality standards, and coordinating directly with project managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and work alongside a self-perform team on active construction sites

  • Perform and oversee carpentry and light equipment operations

  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, safety policies, and quality expectations

  • Coordinate with project managers and subcontractors to achieve efficient workflow

  • Conduct quality control, complete punch lists, and drive projects to completion

  • Mentor and train less experienced field team members

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on construction experience, including field leadership

  • Strong carpentry skills and ability to operate light equipment

  • Proven experience managing crews and ensuring job site productivity

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
