Production Manager: Steel Fabrication

A Miscellaneous Steel Fabricator in the Chicagoland area is looking to add a new Production Manager to their team. This well-established steel fabricator is partnered with a team of recruiters gpac, to find premier steel fabrication talent to manage of shop of 20-30 employees.

As the Production Manager, you will oversee all aspects of shop operations, managing teams, and ensuring the highest level of production efficiency. Production Managers must promote continuous improvement in methods, systems, and procedures, while continuing to encourage teamwork, reduce expenses, and develop employee potential. Production Manager Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee all production, maintenance, and quality assurance of the shop, ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
  • Develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity
  • Coordinate the plant’s manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with company objectives, quality systems, and customer expectations.
  • Ensure employee development through training and delegation of responsibility; assist employees in career planning.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA standards.

Production Manager Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintain current quality standards

 

Production Manager Skills:

  • Proven work experience in Management of metal fabrication industry
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budget, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources
  • Familiarity with industry standards and technical expertise
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship process
