Shipping and Receiving Manager
Location: Huntingtown, MD
 
A structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabricator in the DMV is looking to add a Shipping and Receiving Manager to oversee their process of receiving, storing, and shipping structural steel and miscellaneous metals packages to clients for projects between $200k and $8M. Handrail and guardrail projects range from $75k to $1M. Our client has decades of experience with detailing, estimating, and project managing steel fabrication and erection work. They've grown consistently over the last 10 years and can provide an intriguing growth opportunity for the right steel professional.
 
Shipping and Receiving Manager Responsibilities:
  • Inventory Management: Maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing goods, and optimizing storage space.
  • Logistics Coordination: Collaborating with logistics, customer service, and other departments to optimize the flow of goods.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of all shipping and receiving activities, including tracking shipments and resolving issues.
  • Compliance: Ensuring adherence to safety regulations, company policies, and relevant legal requirements.
  • Staff Management: Supervising and directing shipping and receiving staff, providing training and guidance.
Shipping and Receiving Manager Essential Skills: 
  • Knowledge of Logistics: Understanding of shipping and receiving processes, inventory management, and relevant regulations.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to supervise and motivate a team of shipping and receiving personnel.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using inventory management software and other relevant technologies.
Shipping and Receiving Manager Experience:
  • Proven experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Tekla EPM is preferred.
  • Knowledge of shipping rules and regulations.
  • Experience with shipping/receiving of flat bed trucks.
