Food Safety and Quality Assurance professional wanted!  We are currently partnering with a large animal protein producer (egg producer if you would like to be more specific but it may give it away) that has an immediate opening for a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager in the Eastern SD area. The company has a long history in the industry and has continued to grow their presence.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience with food safety and quality assurance programs and compliance with USDA and FDA regulations. This individual will be over all FSQA responsibilities for the company’s locations in SD and CA. This individual will be required to travel to CA periodically to ensure food safety and compliance is upheld.

Position Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Pre-operational inspection of the facility and equipment before daily start-up.
  • Label verification through visual inspection of product labels for accuracy.
  • The monitoring of the companies expected level of safety and quality through egg grading practices (HACCP). The monitoring practices of the companies HACCP Plan’s Critical Control Points (CCP’s) and Critical Quality Points (CQP’s).
  • Technician must communicate with relevant management staff of visual findings and audit findings.
  • Work closely with plant management (Compliance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Processing Manager, and Production Manager) on continuous improvements of quality issues noticed by surveillance.
  • Assist with the maintenance and auditing of the SQF System.
  • Verify Egg Grading Quality Equipment by surveillance of product to ensure product is meeting requirements.
  • Surveillance of product in the cooler to ensure quality is being met.
  • Surveillance of product in the barns to ensure quality is being met.
  • Surveillance loading practices of shipments to ensure shipping practices are carried out properly.
  • Identify possible efficiency improvements in the process to enhance profitability.
  • Have a thorough understanding of companies GMP Policy and SOP’s in place to verify programs are acted on properly by all employees.
  • Individual will also work alongside government officials from the USDA-Egg Grading Services program working on surveillance of product as well as in-plant issues which may arise and work as a team to find solutions.
  • Individual will be trained and practice all safety and quality responsibilities within the farm complex (ex. GMP’s, Safety, HACCP, SQF).
  • Individual will be trained and follow all farm bio-security policies and procedures.
  • One must also be capable of lifting 50 pounds.
  • Job responsibilities include all duties as assigned

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base Salary between $60,000-$80,000
