Job Description

A respected local heavy civil construction contractor is actively seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Estimator with proven experience in DOT roadway and bridgework. If you’re passionate about civil construction and have the expertise to analyze and bid complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute accurate quantity take-offs of construction documents.

  • Review and understand construction drawings and specifications aligned with state and federal (DOT) requirements.

  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers for labor, equipment, and materials.

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, including material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.

  • Maintain up-to-date information on products, vendors, subcontractors, and applicable government regulations.

  • Participate in team meetings and provide insight on bid/no-bid decisions.

  • Assist in developing bid strategies for upcoming projects.

  • Collaborate with project management teams to ensure accurate financial planning and scope handoff.

  • Communicate contract terms and scope clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Previous estimating experience in heavy civil construction, specifically DOT, roadway, and bridgework.

  • Strong understanding of civil construction methods and materials.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
