Transportation Civil Engineer

Job Summary:

A prominent multidisciplined engineering firm in the area is seeking a Transportation Civil Engineer to join their team. Operating successfully for nearly 50 years, this firm has completed thousands of projects for government and private clients, including roadway and airport design, traffic engineering, civil site development, water resources, and environmental services. This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate engineer or early career professional interested in gaining hands on experience in transportation planning and design.

You will work alongside a team of experienced engineers and project managers on a variety of transportation projects – from highway design and traffic studies to pedestrian safety and urban street improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and design of transportation infrastructure projects, including roads, intersections, bike/pedestrian facilities, and safety improvements.
  • Collect and analyze data related to traffic, roadway conditions, and design elements.
  • Create plans, drawings, and details using software such as MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, or similar CAD tools.  
  • Participate in internal design reviews and client meetings to gain exposure to project development process.
  • Ensure designs follow applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with mentors and senior engineers to build technical skills and project knowledge.  

Qualifications

  • B.S or M.S Degree in Civil Engineering (or expected within 6 months)
  • Passed or working towards passing the FE exam.
  • 0-5 years of experience in transportation engineering or a related field (internships, co-ops, or research projects welcome)
  • Familiarity with software tools such as Microstation, InRoads, OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, AutCAD is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage time and multi-task effectively.
  • Interest in building a long-term career focused on improving transportation systems and public infrastructure.
