Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and budgets for new home plans and community projects
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to ensure accurate estimating
- Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitive and complete coverage
- Develop and maintain unit pricing, cost databases, and estimating templates
- Work closely with purchasing, construction, and design teams to evaluate costs and identify value engineering opportunities
- Update cost models based on actual job performance and market trends
- Assist with bid comparisons and recommendations during subcontractor selection
- Support project managers and superintendents with estimating input on design changes and field conditions
- Ensure all estimates reflect company standards, quality expectations, and community-specific requirements
Qualifications
- 3+ years of residential estimating experience (production or semi-custom homebuilding preferred)
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and local building codes
- Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software (such as Buildertrend, Excel, Bluebeam, or similar)
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational ability
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
