Director of Municipal Practice

Role Overview

The Director of Municipal Practice will lead and expand a municipal civil engineering practice, combining client development, team leadership, and technical oversight. This role offers the autonomy to build a practice, develop long-term public-sector relationships, and guide a multidisciplinary team. The position evolves from an initial seller/doer role into a primarily client-facing practice leadership position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a municipal engineering practice serving public agencies
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Drive business development and secure new work
  • Oversee municipal infrastructure projects from planning through delivery
  • Manage budgets, schedules, quality, and risk
  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 10+ years of municipal civil engineering experience
  • Proven leadership in project, client, and team management
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and business development skills
