Position Overview

A nationally recognized engineering firm is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join its bridge inspection group. This role involves leading structural safety inspections and load ratings for public-sector clients, overseeing field operations, safety compliance, reporting, and team supervision. Occasional night work, overnight assignments, and travel are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review plans and prior inspection reports; plan and execute field operations

  • Develop inspection schedules and coordinate access equipment and traffic control

  • Supervise and mentor inspection staff in the field and office

  • Prepare and implement health and safety and traffic control plans

  • Perform and oversee inspections of complex bridges and related highway structures

  • Operate specialized inspection access equipment as needed

  • Document inspection findings using notes, sketches, and digital photography

  • Evaluate structural deficiencies and prepare clear, accurate inspection reports

  • Coordinate with clients, agencies, subcontractors, and vendors

  • Maintain required licensure and inspection certifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • 5+ years of bridge inspection experience

  • National bridge inspection certification (fracture-critical preferred)

  • MEWP, OSHA fall protection, and confined space certifications

  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills

  • Ability to work independently and in challenging field environments

  • Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules
