Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Agriculture Lender to join a community-focused financial institution in Kentucky. This role is responsible for developing, underwriting, and managing a portfolio of agricultural loans while building strong relationships with farmers, agribusiness owners, and rural communities.
The ideal candidate understands agricultural operations, seasonal cash flow cycles, and local market conditions, and is comfortable serving as a trusted financial partner to producers and ag-related businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage a portfolio of agricultural and agribusiness loans
Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, producers, and rural business owners
Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow projections
Structure, underwrite, and close agricultural credit requests in compliance with bank policies
Monitor loan performance and manage ongoing credit risk
Conduct farm visits and collateral inspections as needed
Work collaboratively with credit, operations, and leadership teams
Stay informed on local agricultural trends, commodity markets, and regulatory requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of agricultural lending, credit analysis, or ag banking experience preferred
Strong understanding of farming operations, livestock, crop production, and ag cash flows
Working knowledge of loan underwriting, financial analysis, and risk management
Ability to build trust and long-term relationships within rural communities
Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
Familiarity with Kentucky agricultural markets and producers is a plus
Preferred Experience
Prior experience with community or regional banking
Background in agriculture (farm upbringing, ag education, or related work)
Experience managing both operating lines and term debt
