Compensation: $90,000–$165,000 (commensurate with experience)

The firm's practice includes a broad range of civil defense matters, from routine liability claims to complex litigation, appellate work, and trial matters.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a litigation associate seeking meaningful responsibility, direct client interaction, and the ability to manage files from inception through resolution.

The successful candidate will work closely with clients, adjusters, and experienced litigators while developing practical courtroom and case-management skills in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage litigation files from intake through resolution

  • Conduct early case assessments and develop litigation strategies

  • Draft pleadings, written discovery, motions, and other litigation documents

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Prepare witnesses, experts, and clients for testimony

  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations

  • Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations

  • Maintain proactive communication with clients and insurance carriers

  • Assist with trial preparation and trial work as opportunities arise

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of insurance defense and/or civil litigation experience

  • Licensed and in good standing in Missouri and/or Illinois (or eligible for admission)

  • Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills

  • Experience handling discovery, depositions, and motion practice

  • Ability to independently advance files and manage deadlines

  • Strong client-service orientation and communication skills

  • Collaborative, professional, and team-focused approach
