Part-Time Mohs Surgery Registered Nurse (RN)

Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Mohs SurgeryEmployment Type: Part-TimeExperience: Minimum 2 years of Mohs surgery experience

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dermatology and Mohs surgery team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of hands-on Mohs surgery experience and be comfortable assisting the physician throughout surgical procedures while providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Mohs surgeon during surgical procedures.
  • Provide hands-on surgical assistance, including maintaining a sterile field and preparing surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Prepare patients for Mohs procedures and ensure appropriate pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Assist with local anesthesia administration as permitted by scope of practice and physician direction.
  • Assist with hemostasis, wound management, suturing, and other surgical needs.
  • Prepare, handle, label, and properly document tissue specimens.
  • Perform and assist with wound care and dressing changes.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Provide patients with detailed post-operative wound care instructions.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical rooms, instruments, and equipment.
  • Follow infection-control, sterilization, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with the Mohs surgeon, clinical staff, and patients.
  • Help maintain efficient patient flow in a busy surgical environment.
  • Provide compassionate, professional patient care throughout the surgical experience.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Minimum 2 years of Mohs surgery experience required.
  • Previous dermatology, surgical, or outpatient procedural experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical protocols.
  • Experience with Mohs surgical assisting and dermatologic procedures.
  • Strong understanding of wound care and post-operative patient management.
  • BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a surgical team.
  • Professional, dependable, and compassionate approach to patient care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with a Mohs surgeon.
  • Experience with complex wound care and surgical closures.
  • Familiarity with dermatologic surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Experience in a high-volume dermatology or Mohs practice.
