Position Overview

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Director of Quality to lead and continuously improve its Quality Management System across machining, CNC, and fabrication operations. This role is responsible for setting quality strategy, ensuring compliance, and driving a culture of continuous improvement while partnering closely with operations, engineering, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage the Quality function across operations

  • Own and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Oversee inspection activities including CMM programming, first article inspections (FAI), and in-process audits

  • Establish and monitor quality metrics related to scrap, rework, customer complaints, and corrective actions

  • Drive root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Partner with CNC machining, fabrication, and engineering teams to improve process capability and product quality

  • Lead internal and external audits, including customer audits

  • Manage supplier quality, including qualification, audits, and performance improvement

  • Develop and mentor quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians

  • Support new product introductions and process validations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field

  • 8+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing quality teams

  • Strong background in CNC machining, precision machining, and fabrication

  • Hands-on experience with CMM inspection and GD&T

  • Deep understanding of quality tools and methodologies (SPC, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, root cause analysis)

  • Experience with ISO-based quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF preferred depending on industry)

  • Ability to communicate effectively across shop floor, engineering, and executive leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)

  • Experience with customer-driven quality requirements

  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills
