Transportation Dispatcher / Route Coordinator – Waste Management
[Insert Company Name], a leading environmental and waste services provider in Wisconsin, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our operations team. We provide critical solid waste, recycling, and industrial services, acting as the daily hub of communication between our drivers, management, and valued customers.
- Route Coordination: Assign, schedule, and optimize daily routes for waste and recycling collection vehicles to maximize efficiency and control operational costs.
- Driver Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers in the field, troubleshooting service delays, missed pick-ups, and equipment issues.
- Compliance Management: Ensure all drivers comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, monitor hours of service (HOS), and verify daily DVIRs (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports).
- Issue Resolution: Field incoming calls from Customer Service, manage service tickets, and dispatch trucks for same-day resolution.
- Safety & Reporting: Monitor route progress via GPS and telematics. Document incidents, breakdowns, and injuries while promoting a culture of safety.
- Experience: 2+ years of dispatch, logistics, or transportation experience. Waste industry or CDL-related experience is highly preferred.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in dispatching software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Regulations: Strong foundational knowledge of DOT and local traffic laws.
