Company Overview:

Our client, a leader in environmental engineering and waste management solutions, is seeking a Solid Waste Facilities Engineer to support the design, permitting, and construction of transfer stations, recycling centers, and material recovery facilities. This role is ideal for a licensed engineer or an aspiring PE with experience in solid waste management, facility development, or environmental engineering.

Job Summary:

The Solid Waste Facilities Engineer will be responsible for engineering design, regulatory compliance, and project management for the development of waste management infrastructure. This position requires technical expertise in engineering calculations, environmental permitting, and construction oversight, along with business development and client relations experience.

Key Responsibilities:Engineering & Design:

  • Conduct engineering calculations, site evaluations, and technical analysis.
  • Prepare construction plans, cost estimates, and design reports.
  • Direct CAD drafting and ensure compliance with design specifications and regulations.
  • Oversee quality control and safety compliance on construction sites.

Project Management & Business Development:

  • Manage projects from feasibility studies through construction.
  • Develop budgets, schedules, and technical reports.
  • Support business development initiatives and client relationships.
  • Prepare proposals for mid-to-large-scale projects.

Regulatory Compliance & Construction Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Obtain necessary permits and manage environmental documentation.
  • Work with contractors and regulatory agencies to meet project goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, or related Engineering field.
  • PE license or ability to obtain within six months.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in solid waste management, facility development, or related engineering.
  • Strong project management, budgeting, and scheduling experience.
  • Proficiency with CAD (preferably 3D), engineering software, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with teams.
  • Willingness to travel periodically (2-3 nights per month).
