Job Title: Structural Steel Construction Estimator

Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Structural Steel Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects, including material, labor, and equipment costs. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure that projects are bid accurately and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and materials needed for structural steel projects.

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.

  • Analyze blueprints and technical drawings to calculate structural steel requirements.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify any project requirements or discrepancies.

  • Evaluate and source suppliers and subcontractors, obtaining quotes for materials and services.

  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project conditions and inform estimates.

  • Ensure estimates meet the client's budget and schedule requirements.

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely bids, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.

  • Track project costs and update estimates as needed throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Structural Steel Estimator or in a similar role in construction.

  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes.

  • Excellent knowledge of construction costs, materials, and industry standards.

  • Proficiency in estimating software (Tekla, Bluebeam, or Similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel estimating or a related construction field.

  • Experience estimating/bidding structural steel projects exceeding 5,000 - 10,000+ tons regularly
