A well-established Farm Credit System–affiliated financial institution is seeking an Ag Loan Officer to support and grow a diverse agricultural lending portfolio across North and Central Texas. This role is ideal for a relationship-driven lender who understands agricultural producers, agri-business operations, and the unique credit needs of rural and semi-rural markets.
Position Overview
The Ag Loan Officer will be responsible for developing new relationships, managing an existing ag portfolio, and structuring sound credit solutions for farmers, ranchers, and ag-related businesses. The role offers strong autonomy, long-term relationship building, and the stability of a cooperative lending platform.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, underwrite, and manage agricultural loan relationships, including production ag, livestock, equipment, land, and agri-business credits
Build and maintain long-term relationships with farmers, ranchers, and ag operators throughout the region
Analyze borrower financials, cash flow, collateral, and repayment capacity
Structure loans with appropriate terms, covenants, and risk mitigants in accordance with Farm Credit guidelines
Prepare and present credit packages for approval
Monitor portfolio performance, conduct annual reviews, and proactively manage credit quality
Represent the institution at local ag events, producer meetings, and community functions
Work collaboratively with credit, appraisal, and servicing teams to deliver high-touch service
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in agricultural lending, farm credit, or ag-focused community banking
Strong understanding of ag economics, commodity cycles, and rural markets
Proven ability to analyze farm financial statements and cash flow
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
Self-motivated, relationship-oriented, and comfortable working independently in the field
Strong communication and customer service skills
