About the Role:
Our client, a well-established building materials distributor, is seeking an experienced Outside Sales Representative to cover the Twin Cities region. This remote-based role is ideal for a motivated, relationship-driven professional with strong ties to the lumberyard, pro-dealer, or building materials community.
You will be responsible for managing existing accounts and growing territory sales by calling on lumberyards, dealers, and independent retailers, providing top-tier customer support, and promoting value-added solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain relationships with lumberyards, retail yards, and regional pro-dealers • Sell a wide range of building materials including lumber, panels, engineered wood, siding, and specialty products • Conduct regular in-person visits throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding areas to support existing accounts and identify new business opportunities • Understand customer needs and provide product solutions, pricing, and inventory support • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform sales strategy • Work collaboratively with inside sales, logistics, and operations to ensure exceptional service • Track sales activity, pipeline progress, and territory performance using CRM tools • Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales goals
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of outside sales experience in building materials, lumber, or construction supply • Existing relationships with lumberyards or pro-dealers in MN is a strong plus • Self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working remotely with regular field travel • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Strong understanding of building materials, pricing structures, and customer needs • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within assigned territory
