Job Description

Job Title: Diesel Technician – Heavy-Duty Fleet Maintenance

Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking fleet operation, is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join their growing team. The Diesel Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet to ensure it meets DOT and company safety standards. The ideal Diesel Technician will bring a strong mechanical background, the ability to work independently, and a desire to be part of a collaborative, safety-first environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair diesel trucks and related equipment, including engine, chassis, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems

  • Utilize onboard computer systems and diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot issues

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs) and ensure compliance with DOT standards

  • Collaborate with drivers to identify concerns and ensure repairs are timely and accurate

  • Accurately estimate time and material costs; requisition and install replacement parts

  • Respond to unscheduled service calls and complete on-site repairs when needed

  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces and uphold all safety and OSHA standards

  • Read and interpret service manuals and technical documents

  • Uphold the company’s commitment to quality service, safety, and customer satisfaction

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working on diesel trucks

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diagnostic systems

  • Welding experience preferred, but not required

  • Must have own tools and a valid driver’s license

  • Highly organized, safety-conscious, and self-motivated

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills

Schedule & Work Conditions:

  • Full-time role with eligibility for company benefits

  • Regular hours Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:30pm; occasional Saturday shifts required

  • Non-exempt position (eligible for overtime pay)

  • Physically demanding environment; exposure to noise, dust, fluids, and various weather conditions

  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs and safely operate equipment/tools
