Operations Manager – Screen Printing Industry

Overview: Seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations in a busy screen printing and apparel decoration business. This role is critical in ensuring smooth production, driving sales and marketing initiatives, and building a strong, motivated team across multiple departments. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a balance of operational, sales, and people management skills who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment.

Key Responsibilities for Operations Manager:

  • Set and track sales goals, working closely with ownership to drive revenue growth.

  • Manage marketing initiatives to increase brand visibility and attract new customers.

  • Oversee production across departments (screen printing, embroidery, heat press, artwork, and sales) operating in two facilities.

  • Coordinate effectively between sales and art departments to ensure accurate, timely project delivery.

  • Help determine lead times and scheduling based on workload and available resources.

  • Order supplies, maintain inventory, and negotiate with vendors to reduce costs.

  • Balance workloads across office and production teams to ensure efficiency.

  • Supervise staff performance, keeping employees on-task and working to their full potential.

  • Train, mentor, and guide new employees, fostering professional growth and strong work habits.

  • Implement quality control procedures to minimize errors and rework.

  • Address and resolve customer concerns professionally, ensuring high satisfaction.

  • Identify bottlenecks and streamline processes to optimize workflow and improve productivity.

  • Play a key role in setting up and supporting the company’s first outside sales representative.

  • Promote a positive, team-oriented culture across all departments.

  • Contribute to continued growth in both sales and production capacity.

Qualifications for Operations Manager:

  • Proven leadership experience in operations management, preferably in screen printing, apparel decoration, or a related manufacturing/production environment.

  • Strong understanding of production processes, scheduling, and workflow optimization.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams.

  • Customer service experience with the ability to handle escalated issues effectively.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency with basic business software (Excel, Word, email systems); experience with industry-specific software a plus.

  • Negotiation and vendor management experience.
