Senior Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is ideal for a confident leader who can manage large, high-stakes infrastructure projects while driving results, building partnerships, and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and schedule.

Heavy civil, bridge, structural steel, and infrastructure construction


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of project delivery — ensuring safety, profitability, and schedule compliance

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and internal teams

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the project lifecycle

  • Direct project team members including APMs, engineers, superintendents, schedulers, and others

  • Oversee the project hand-off from estimating to execution

  • Ensure all project documentation, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and reporting are timely and accurate

  • Select and negotiate with subcontractors and vendors

  • Monitor and adjust work methods in the field to stay within budget and timeline targets

  • Ensure strict adherence to company and regulatory safety and quality standards

  • Collaborate with safety and quality departments to manage inspections, audits, and compliance

  • Engage in broader company initiatives to drive continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in heavy civil, bridge, or structural steel construction

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred

  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred

  • Class 1 Railroad experience a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong planning, leadership, and problem-solving abilities

  • Willingness to travel as needed
