Litigation Legal Secretary – Los Angeles or San Diego

A well-regarded California law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Secretary to join its Los Angeles or San Diego office. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with 5+ years of heavy litigation experience. The firm values teamwork, efficiency, and technical proficiency, and offers a hybrid schedule after an initial in-office period.

Responsibilities:

  • Edit and finalize legal documents, letters, and reports.
  • Manage manual calendaring using Outlook and maintain state and federal court deadlines.
  • File documents with state and federal courts, including e-filing.
  • Provide general administrative support, including answering phones, managing attorneys’ schedules, expense reports, and travel arrangements.
  • Manage work for multiple cases and multiple attorneys simultaneously.
  • Work independently while supporting team efforts in a busy office environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of litigation legal secretary experience.
  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures, including state and federal court filing requirements and e-filing.
  • Proficiency in calendaring deadlines according to court rules without relying solely on software.
  • Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience preparing legal documents including motions (MSJs), discovery, pleadings, and judicial council forms.
  • Familiarity with iManage, Coyote Analytics, Westlaw - Deadline Assistant, and PACER.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and receptive to constructive feedback.
  • Team-oriented, tech-savvy, and committed to achieving shared goals.
