Senior Project Manager – Structural Steel

Job Summary

A well-established structural steel contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee complex structural steel projects from contract award through completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural steel fabrication and erection and the ability to manage projects, customers, schedules, budgets, and internal teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced steel professional to take ownership of significant projects while working with a reputable contractor and a strong project backlog.

Responsibilities

  • Manage structural steel projects from contract award through final completion
  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and project requirements
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Coordinate with estimating, detailing, fabrication, procurement, field operations, and erection teams
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors, owners, engineers, and other project stakeholders
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Monitor project costs, profitability, billing, and overall financial performance
  • Coordinate material procurement and fabrication schedules
  • Identify and resolve project issues to keep work on schedule and within budget
  • Conduct project meetings and provide regular project updates
  • Ensure projects meet quality, safety, and contractual requirements
  • Mentor and provide leadership to project engineers and junior project managers

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of structural steel project management experience
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection
  • Experience managing projects from contract award through completion
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, detailing, material procurement, and erection processes
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, change orders, and contracts
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience with project management software and Microsoft Office
  • AISC experience preferred
