Drafting Manager – Above-Ground Storage Tanks
A growing above-ground storage tank fabricator is seeking an experienced Drafting Manager to lead its drafting department and oversee people, workflow, and project deliverables. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on drafting professional with tank experience and a strong 3D modeling background who enjoys leading a team and improving departmental efficiency.
The Drafting Manager will oversee daily drafting operations, manage workloads and deadlines, coordinate with internal departments and outsourced detailing resources, and ensure drawings are completed accurately and efficiently. This is a remote opportunity, with initial training and onboarding completed on-site during the first week.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the drafting team, including workload distribution, scheduling, performance, and workflow.
Oversee drafting projects from initial design through final deliverables.
Review drawings and 3D models for accuracy, quality, and constructability.
Utilize AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and SolidWorks for drafting and 3D modeling.
Coordinate smaller outsourced detailing projects with an international detailing team.
Maintain effective communication and workflow between drafting, purchasing, and procurement.
Work closely with purchasing and procurement to ensure drawings and material requirements align with project needs.
Identify opportunities to improve drafting processes, standards, and efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and support to the drafting team while maintaining project deadlines.
Qualifications:
Experience with above-ground storage tanks or similar heavy industrial fabrication required.
Previous drafting leadership or management experience.
Strong 3D modeling experience, particularly with Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
Proficiency with AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of fabrication drawings, detailing, and manufacturing processes.
Proven ability to manage people, workload, and departmental workflow.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams and outsourced detailing resources.
Compensation & Benefits:
$85,000 – $100,000+ DOE
