Traveling Project Manager – Structural Steel

A well-established and growing structural steel fabricator and erector is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee large-scale structural steel projects across the United States. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with experience managing large-tonnage structural steel projects who enjoys being directly involved in project execution and field operations.

The Project Manager will travel to regional jobsites throughout the U.S., working closely with customers, field leadership, fabrication teams, and project stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. Candidates can be based anywhere in the U.S. as long as they are comfortable with extensive travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage structural steel projects from contract award through final closeout.

  • Travel to regional jobsites throughout the United States to monitor project execution and progress.

  • Coordinate with field superintendents, erection crews, fabrication teams, detailers, customers, and subcontractors.

  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, costs, manpower, logistics, and overall performance.

  • Review structural drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.

  • Identify and resolve project issues proactively to maintain schedule and profitability.

  • Lead project meetings and maintain strong customer relationships.

  • Coordinate fabrication, delivery, erection, and field activities to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Provide regular project updates, forecasts, and reporting to company leadership.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of structural steel project management experience.

  • Proven experience managing large-tonnage structural steel projects.

  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, erection, sequencing, and field operations.

  • Experience coordinating fabrication and erection activities on complex projects.

  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

  • Strong project scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and change management skills.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $120,000 – $160,000 DOE

  • Travel expenses covered
