Job Description

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Construction Estimator. You will play a vital part in our project lifecycle by providing accurate cost projections, analyzing blueprints, and putting together competitive bids that drive our company’s growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quantity Takeoffs: Perform accurate and detailed material and labor takeoffs from project drawings and specifications.
  • Cost Analysis: Calculate total costs for labor, materials, equipment, permits, and insurance to produce comprehensive estimates.
  • Bid Management: Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers. Ensure trade coverage is complete and scope gaps are identified.
  • Vendor Negotiation: Negotiate prices and terms to secure the most competitive rates.
  • Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving alternatives and suggest improvements to reduce expenses without compromising quality.
  • Project Hand-offs: Prepare detailed executive summaries and provide smooth project transitions to the construction project managers.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of proven experience as a construction estimator or in a related construction project management role.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (strongly preferred).
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude and extreme attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to confidently present budgets to clients and stakeholders.
