Plumbing Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Engineer to join our team in Wilmington, North Carolina. This position offers the opportunity to be involved throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial schematic design through bidding, construction, and final project closeout.

The Plumbing Engineer will design plumbing systems for new construction and building renovations, including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, and natural gas piping systems.

Our projects include K–12 schools, higher education facilities, fire stations, municipal buildings, office buildings, and other community-focused facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design new and renovated plumbing systems in coordination with project owners and clients.

  • Perform plumbing design calculations, including pipe sizing.

  • Prepare plumbing drawings, specifications, and construction documents.

  • Coordinate plumbing designs with architects, structural engineers, civil engineers, and other project team members.

  • Communicate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), including plan reviewers and inspectors, to verify compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

  • Review submittals for plumbing equipment, fixtures, piping, and related components.

  • Conduct site observations during construction and installation of plumbing systems.

  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and assist with resolving plumbing-related issues during construction.

  • Support projects from schematic design and bidding through construction administration and final closeout.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in plumbing design and engineering.

  • Knowledge of International Codes, North Carolina building codes, and applicable industry standards.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu.

  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina.
