Job Description

Day Shift Senior Fabricator/Welder – Food Manufacturing

Bergen County, New Jersey
Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM–3:30 PM
Competitive Compensation + Benefits

A growing food manufacturing client is seeking an experienced Senior Fabricator/Welder to become the facility’s go-to expert for stainless-steel fabrication and sanitary welding. This is not repetitive production welding—you’ll take projects from concept and field measurements through fabrication, finishing, installation, and final turnover.

You’ll work closely with Engineering and Maintenance to improve production equipment, reduce downtime, support capital projects, and create practical solutions that make the plant safer and more efficient.

What You’ll Do

  • Fabricate, modify, install, and repair stainless-steel equipment and components.

  • Build platforms, guarding, hoppers, chutes, tables, tanks, piping, conveyors, and processing equipment.

  • Perform high-quality TIG and MIG welding, including thin-gauge and sanitary applications.

  • Lay out, cut, form, grind, polish, passivate, and finish stainless steel.

  • Read blueprints, weld symbols, schematics, P&IDs, and engineering drawings.

  • Support equipment installations, relocations, utility tie-ins, and capital improvement projects.

  • Fabricate replacement parts in-house to reduce downtime and long OEM lead times.

  • Follow sanitary design, GMP, food-safety, LOTO, hot-work, and OSHA requirements.

  • Mentor junior fabricators and maintenance technicians.

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of hands-on fabrication and welding experience.

  • At least 3 years within food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, or another sanitary manufacturing environment.

  • Strong TIG and MIG stainless-steel welding skills.

  • Experience with sanitary piping, Tri-Clamp fittings, 304/316L stainless steel, or CIP systems.

  • Ability to independently complete projects from layout through installation.

  • Welding certification, trade school, or apprenticeship training is preferred.

  • AWS D1.6, ASME Section IX, or orbital welding experience is a plus.

What’s in It for You

  • Stable Monday–Friday day-shift schedule.

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.

  • Ownership of custom fabrication projects from start to finish.

  • Work that directly improves safety, sanitation, uptime, and production performance.

  • Opportunity to serve as the plant’s technical authority on sanitary welding and fabrication.

  • Variety—every project and equipment challenge is different.

Occasional weekend or shutdown support may be required based on plant needs.
