Survey Technician / Construction Technology Specialist

Heavy Civil Construction | Northeast Ohio

A well-established and growing 50+ year Heavy Civil Contractor in the Cleveland/Akron area is looking to add a Survey Technician / Construction Technology Specialist to support continued growth and investment in technology across the organization.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of surveying, GPS technology, machine control, and construction operations. The right individual will play a critical role in helping project teams, survey crews, and machine operators execute work accurately and efficiently in the field.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop, manage, and maintain GPS machine control models and files for field operations
• Convert engineering and design drawings into machine-ready GPS files for heavy equipment and survey crews
• Work closely with project managers, survey personnel, estimators, and field teams to ensure accurate project layout and grading information
• Support and troubleshoot GPS machine control systems in the field
• Assist with setup, calibration, and operation of GPS equipment and survey technology
• Review plans, specifications, and design files to ensure constructability and data accuracy
• Help drive technology initiatives that improve productivity and efficiency across projects

Preferred Experience

• Experience with GPS machine control systems
• Working knowledge of Topcon, Trimble, or similar GPS technologies
• Experience creating and managing machine control models
• Strong understanding of grading, earthwork, site development, utilities, and heavy civil construction
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, Trimble Business Center, Topcon MAGNET, or related software
• Understanding of survey layout, elevations, coordinate systems, and construction staking
• Ability to communicate effectively with both office and field personnel
