Mitigation Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mitigation Manager to lead the mitigation division for an established restoration construction company. This individual will oversee mitigation projects from the initial emergency response through completion, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with water, fire, smoke, mold, and other property-loss mitigation, along with strong leadership, customer service, and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage mitigation projects from initial loss through completion
- Oversee water, fire, smoke, mold, and storm-related restoration projects
- Coordinate emergency response and ensure timely mobilization
- Supervise mitigation technicians and subcontractors
- Conduct job-site inspections and assess scope of work
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Monitor project progress, labor, materials, and equipment
- Coordinate with homeowners, insurance adjusters, property managers, and other stakeholders
- Review and approve estimates, change orders, and project documentation
- Ensure proper documentation of job-site conditions and completed work
- Manage drying, demolition, cleaning, contents, and remediation processes as applicable
- Ensure projects comply with company standards, safety requirements, and industry guidelines
- Track equipment and materials used on mitigation projects
- Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of mitigation staff
- Resolve customer concerns and maintain strong client relationships
- Monitor project profitability and production metrics
- Communicate project status and issues to company leadership
- Ensure proper closeout and handoff of completed mitigation projects
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in restoration, mitigation, or disaster recovery
- Previous leadership or management experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of water mitigation and structural drying
- Experience with fire/smoke restoration, mold remediation, or storm restoration is a plus
- Experience working with insurance claims and adjusters
- Strong understanding of restoration estimating and documentation
- Ability to read scopes of work and understand construction processes
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Certifications
- IICRC WRT – Water Restoration Technician
- IICRC ASD – Applied Structural Drying
- IICRC FSRT – Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician
- IICRC AMRT – Applied Microbial Remediation Technician
- Xactimate experience is highly preferred
