Senior Estimator

(Fabrication and Machine Shop)

Structural Fabrication and Machine Shop in Southern Indiana is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead their Estimating department!

Senior Estimator Summary:

The Senior Estimator will generate quotations based on estimates of labor, materials, special processes, and documentation requirements for a varying range of complex technical opportunities by reviewing the scope of work, codes, specifications, drawings, and other relevant requirements. Communicate with customers, internal resources, vendors, and subcontractors to research, determine and estimate the cost to fabricate the opportunity within the defined parameters and prescribed time frames. Be instrumental in Business Development - Overseeing Estimating Department - Handling clients for RFI process - Training and overseeing other Estimators' work.

Senior Estimator Responsibilities:

  • Review and comprehend scope of work (SOW), customer requirements, specifications, codes and standards, customer terms and conditions to identify required resources to satisfy the project requirements.
  • Distills SOW data to prepare and estimate preliminary manufacturing routings consisting of labor operations, material requirements, subcontracted services and all other cost associated with the SOW.
  • Generates detailed estimates of cost for the labor, materials, special processes, testing, inspection, and documentation requirements needed to perform the SOW.
  • Prepares detailed quotation documentation for submittal to the customer. Describes in detail the inclusions, substitutions, and exclusions of the offer.
  • Prepares and submits the requisite documentation, responses and proposals prescribed in the quotation submittal requirements.
  • Performs follow up activities to gain status of offered quotations to determine probability of converting the quote into a purchase order.
  • Provide customers with detailed information about the shop's products and services, offering tailored solutions to meet their fabrication needs.
  • Assists Business Development in converting offered quotations into purchase orders.

Senior Estimator Skills and Abilities:

  • Professional experience within fabrication and/or machining environment.
  • Capabilities include: Plate rolling, Plate bending, complex projects for bridges and tunnels (AWS D1.5).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of applications required.
  • Experience with Tekla PowerFab preferred.
  • Ability to estimate $50-60M in work annually.
  • Focused on Structural Packages.

Senior Estimator Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 10+ years estimating fabrication/machining.
  • AWS D1.5 (bridge welding code) is major plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or related field required.

 

Compensation depends on experience and can be negotiated following initial interview but includes the following:

  • Base Salary of $100,000+
  • Bonus Incentive of +10%
  • Benefit Package with great coverage and low cost premium
