Senior Refrigerated Freight Broker / Cold Chain Logistics Specialist
We are seeking an elite Senior Refrigerated Freight Broker / Cold Chain Logistics Expert to join our logistics team. This is not an entry-level role—we’re looking for a true cold chain master with a proven track record in brokering refrigerated freight, managing temperature-controlled warehousing, understanding end-to-end quality control (QC) protocols, and optimizing cold logistics performance across the board. Key Responsibilities:
- Freight Brokerage & Carrier Management
- Source and manage top-tier temperature-controlled carriers (LTL and FTL)
- Negotiate competitive rates while ensuring strict cold chain compliance
- Maintain a robust carrier network specializing in produce, dairy, meat, pharmaceuticals, and other temperature-sensitive freight
- Cold Chain Expertise
- Ensure all shipments meet temperature requirements and industry-specific standards (FSMA, FDA, GFSI, etc.)
- Work cross-functionally to monitor cold chain integrity from pickup through final delivery
- Serve as the subject-matter expert on reefer operations and technology
- Warehousing & Distribution
- Coordinate with refrigerated and frozen storage facilities across multiple regions
- Optimize warehouse inventory turnover and cold storage space utilization
- Ensure accurate inbound/outbound inventory management and temperature compliance
- Quality Control & Compliance
- Oversee product integrity checks, temperature logs, and handling protocols
- Troubleshoot claims, temperature excursions, and service failures
- Maintain QC documentation and ensure compliance with all federal and customer requirements
- Customer & Vendor Relations
- Act as a trusted logistics advisor to customers with highly sensitive freight
- Provide white-glove service and proactive communication throughout the shipping process
- Build lasting relationships with shippers, carriers, warehouse teams, and 3PL/4PL partners
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in refrigerated freight brokerage, cold chain logistics, or temperature-controlled warehousing
- Deep knowledge of reefer trailers, temperature monitoring systems, and spoilage mitigation
- Proven ability to manage crisis situations (e.g. reefer failure, rejected loads, temperature excursions)
- Familiarity with major food and pharma regulations (FSMA, HACCP, FDA, USDA, etc.)
- Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Experience with TMS and WMS platforms (e.g., McLeod, Blue Yonder, Descartes)
- Industry certifications a plus (CFS, HACCP, CSCP, etc.)

Salary: Depending on Experience-Generous Base + Commission (90K – 175K + Commissions)
